You are assuming that purchasers of your printer are familiar with the whole process of flashing SD cards and firmware, I am not in any way and this step stopped me cold. you really need to provide a LOT more instructions about this, such as photos of the SD card contents and hierarchy. My printer is all ready to go but is now a paperweight until someone helps me in DETAIL with this step. thank you.
This whole firmware operation is a downer... it should have been preloaded and installed on the board and I'm on a mac so this stuff is not easy. Why can't you create an image file of the correct contents for the SD card? I have the GD screen chip. I do NOT understand this procedure and am giving up. The firmware.bin file is INSIDE a folder on the SD card, do I remove it and place it at root level of the card or what? Sorry, this part creates insane anxiety for me and anyone buying a new printer.
There are no routing instructions for the heatbed thermistor, and there is not cable wrap that goes to the main board. hmmmm will make due somehow.
Please add a closeup of the serial connector on the main board, showing the orientation of the single pin. The serial connector is not labeled or formed to fit only one way with guides, making it possible to put it in any which way.
Orient the 3mm Nylon Filament stiffener so that it naturally curls BACK in these photos, toward the hot end. If not, and the fit is tight into the holders, you won't be able to rotate the 3mm filament to get the whole sleeved stack in the vertical position.
NOTE; When inserting the nylon 3mm filament, orient the curve toward the back of the printer so that it naturally arches upward. It's very hard to adjust it later. No indication where the 3mm nylon piece goes into, but there is a small hole just to the side of the cable channel, DON'T confuse the filament hole and the LED hole for the filament sensor!
Here is another place where a zoomed OUT photo would help, hard to identify where exactly on the 2020 the part attaches. So, the screws are facing the INSIDE of the printer?
Many cables are unmarked and I've already lost count of what's what. Why so sparing with the marker tags? every cable should have one IMHO. :-(
As I was moving the cables into a nice straight line one of the Hot End cables lost it's ferrule, it just fell off on the floor. NO GOOD! The ferrule used was too large, what the wire calls for is 1.2mm and the existing ferrule was 1.6mm. Check yours before connecting it to the Octopus board! the ferrule must fit the wire snugly or even the full crimp won't secure it in the ferrule.
Yes, the M3 22 were a hard fit, one of the screws had to be a 25mm to reach.
